Program Note: New Horizons was the name of the first and currently only spacecraft to visit Pluto. Pluto was both named a planet and stripped of that honorable status before its beauty was ever seen. Named after the Roman god of the underworld, one could imagine that Pluto would be rather upset at this event. “New Horizons” is a tone poem exploring how the dwarf planet itself would feel about humanity’s discovery and defaming it, given its grand namesake as god of the underworld.
